Spotlight Musical 2010!

Back before our three-part vacation series, I meant to blog about the girls' first musical performance!

Kendyll and Carlie attended Spotlight, a musical camp at church this summer. I was not sure what to expect. Kendyll loves things like this, but she was not wanting to go when Day One arrived. (We usually try not to overschedule our summers, and somehow, we DID this summer...so, she was just exhausted!) And, Carlie is NOT one that likes to be in the spotlight, or perform. So, I had no idea if she would come home hating it or not either.

But, the first morning, they perked up when they saw their friends, especially the Suttons and Dales, and everything got better from there.

When I picked them up on the first day, they each said "Mom, this is the MOST AWESOME camp ever!!!" And, they didn't stop talking about every detail until they hit their beds that night.
This trend continued with each passing day, and their excitement about the big show was growing. After hearing the songs, and seeing the motions all week, I felt like I already knew the whole thing.

But, really, I had NO idea what a great show we were in store for! It was AMAZING!! And, I loved watching the expression and excitement on our girls' faces, as they performed!

Carlie was on the very front row and was so animated. She never missed a beat or a motion! This is HUGE for her!! We were so proud. (Can you see her?)
And, Kendyll, as you would expect, was the most expressive performer on stage (even though she was a tall one in the back!). We laughed out loud at her passion for each lyric. :) Next year, I fully expect her to try out for a solo part, since she was already wishing she had this year.
The whole musical was baseball themed, so the whole afternoon of the performance followed the theme. There was a walk of fame with the "players" handprints, pennants the kids had made, pictures of each kid on the front of "Spirit Illustrated", and a popcorn party after the show.
Pops and Grandma even brought Sophie to be our little cheering baseball fan!
The stage was decorated like a baseball field, and had "ads" around the sanctuary. It was SO cute and I was SO impressed with all the hard work of those who planned it, the youth group who volunteered as counselors, and all the kids who attended.
It was a great camp, and we're so glad we were a part of it! We'll definitely be making time for it next summer as well!

Well done, my little right-fielders! :)
