Summer Vacation: Plan C

I love this picture of the girls making their letter "C" to commemorate our Plan C trip...to the Gaylord Texan!!
If anyone {who lives in Texas} ever needs something to do on a Thursday night, you should check out the Gaylord. They offer 40% off their rooms {and even cheaper if you're willing to miss out on the atrium view...which we were!}, so our room was less than $100. As you can see, we spent most of our time in the water...again!
This time, we also enjoyed a little poolside service with frozen lemonades for the girls and tropical drinks for mom and dad. :) YUM!
I love these sisters, and all the fun they have together. Most of the time, these two were Susan and Lucy from Narnia, pretending to be searching for Aslan, and staging their own swim races. Whatever they're doing, these girls have the BEST time together. And, it's so fun for mom and dad to watch!
And, what's better than staying in a hotel when you're little? The girls LOVE it, and for a discount rate, how can you resist the entertaining features, like free notepads and pens? Oh, the perks...
Another perk: kids eat FREE on Thursdays at the Gaylord! So, we also got to have a GREAT dinner, after swimming all day!

The Summerfest theme at the Gaylord is Alice in Wonderland, and we definitely enjoyed our share of Alice and friends.
Most of the Wonderland experience was fun and free...there were sand sculptures, roaming characters, bright and colorful teacups, giant flowers, and even a lifesized chess game to play!
Of course, after paying $12 a person to go through the 3-D White Rabbit Maze, we opted out of the Mad Hatter Tea Party and Breakfast with Alice, which both cost double that {at least}.

But, overall their concepts were good.

We did a very fun scavenger hunt throughout the atrium, finding clues to solve the mystery of the cheshire cat. Nothing gets past these sleuthy spies!

And, as I mentioned we did the 3-D Rabbit Hole and Maze. NOT quite worth the money from our adult perspective, but the girls were giddy with excitement as they tried to find their way through the maze, and made themselves dizzy walking through the spinning rabbit hole tunnel...again and again. My 3-D hubby looks like he's straight from the 70's with those cute glasses.
We had a very yummy {and fancy} dinner at the Old Hickory Steakhouse, where the girls got to try new things, like lobster bisque, wild mushrooms, and raisin pecan bread. And, then we got to do a Wonderland Triple-licious Dessert Dine-Around, where we collected three different "Eat Me" desserts from three different locations. After lemon tarts, chocolate covered strawberries and bananas, and peanut butter brownies, we were ready to POP!

We tried our best to get a good family picture {mainly for our adoption dossier!}, and were somewhat successful...however, we never got a picture with all five of us facing the camera and smiling at the same time. Which believe it or not, is what the dossier requires. :)
The Gaylord was another fun day with our girlies, and definitely a great ending to a triple-licious vacation week! Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C were all fun and memorable in their own way.
Now, we're back on track for our Plan A weekend, and have come to the ranch in Mineola for another great Fourth of July celebration! Whew! The party just doesn't stop!

Wow, Chelsea! I'm so impressed with your spontaneity! Just throwing caution to the wind and going with the flow. Did you also find time to jaywalk? :-)

Plan B and Plan C are awesome alternatives. Your kids are probably going to want a repeat next year. There are SOOOO many cute pictures from all 3 posts, but I'm sorry that you didn't get your white dress pictures. I would have loved to have seen those. :-(

BTW, I can't believe how much Carlie and AK look alike...in some pics I can't tell them apart. And, I love the long dresses that Carlie and AK are wearing at GWL. Adorable! (where are they from?)

I can't wait to see you this week. The donations are pouring in...hope you have room in your suitcase!

I don't know if you remember me, Chelsea. I was friends with Cortni at ACU and I have been a silent lurker on your blog for a little while now:) I love reading about your family. Your girls playing Susan and Lucy made me smile, as we have a recurring Narnia theme around these parts. We have two girls and two boys, which is quite convenient as far as Narnia kings and queens go:) My oldest told me that she wants to have a Narnia party for her 7th birthday (which somehow translates to her needing to dye her hair a different color - I'm not sure that part is going to work out for us).

I'm glad you had such a fun impromptu vacation. It looks like many fun memories were made!

PS - Do you remember those chocolate covered caramel oreos you were making for your cousin's wedding when I visited your house with Cortni once? My husband and I ended up making them for our wedding favors and they have since become a frequent special occasion treat in with my whole family. Thanks for passing it along:)

This looks like such a fun vacation. I really enjoyed reading about all of your alternative plans. Your girls are so precious! I just noticed Isaiah 40:11 on the sidebar of your blog. Thanks for sharing that beautiful verse. That is one I've never read before. I enjoy reading about your family's adventures and look forward to hearing more about your adoption process. Love to you all!
