A Day of Mourning

This household has been sad today...

Our favorite girl, Brooke, is officially gone from American Idol. A sad day! Even Carlie was pretty bummed.
Our kids definitely don't watch Primetime TV (we pretty much stick to Noggin), but American Idol is a family affair here at the Jacobs (Okay, so they actually get an edited version...it's the show, minus all commercials, any and all performances by Mariah Carey, and half the judges' comments :).

Kendyll got to stay up late last night to see the results...and she and I sat there nervously biting our nails, as Brooke's tears started to fall. As they announced the results, you could hear the family-wide moan...and then we began reminding each other that Brooke is still a "winner" even though the rest of the voters didn't agree. She was definitely "my style" musically, she is a wonderful role-model for my girls, and was totally herself, which I loved--not afraid to admit a mistake. We actually had some great conversations with our girls about the way she carried herself. So, thank you Brooke, for some great entertainment!

We can't wait to see her at the American Idol Live show this summer!

And, now, Kendyll plays "Every Breath you Take" on the piano daily...and she always "starts over" just like Brooke did. Carlie pretends to be "Brooke" (or Sara, or Sally) any time they're playing pretend. And, they now both want to play the piano AND the guitar just like Brooke does.

Speaking of instruments, I'll be back soon with more about Kendyll's first guitar lesson from Grandad this week... :)

I'm SO WITH YOU on Brooke's dismissal. She was my fave BY FAR!! David C. is good but no Daughtrey and the rest are
A-W-F-U-L!!! I don't get the David A. thing AT ALL!

I loved Brooke's vunerability and loved her style. I hated seeing her lose her confidence the last several weeks b/c she really has a great sound and talent. We talk about getting her cd and LOVING listening to her with the piano (Let It Be was AWESOME)!

The Sandersons were mourning with you!!

I was pretty bummed, too! I wanted Brooke to take it all. I really dont have much interest left in the rest of the contestants.

I loved Brooke too -- she seemed nice, kind, and real. And so pretty too.

Loved reading all about your ranch days in the previous posts. Sounds like so much fun, especially when you add cute table decor!

Did you see Brooke on the Today show this morning? I just love her! Tonight just won't be the same without her!

Love you!
