The Guitar Show...and more

This has been declared "Jacobs Blog Catch-up Day"...so here we go with the blog I started over a week ago. :)

GrandSunday is one of our favorite family traditions, because it is a constant date on our calendar...every few weeks we are guaranteed a much-needed family day with Grandad, Grankay, and the aunts, uncles, and cousins. I've blogged about it many times before, and this last month was no exception in food, fun, and family.
Lots of sports watching by the guys, lots of catching up with the girls, a "pack-n-play nap rotation" for all the little ones, and lots and LOTS of baby holding by everyone!!
Even Braden wanted to be a part of the baby-lovin'...here he is giving a bear hug to the three littlest ones. (Don't worry, no infants were hurt!)
After naps, we decided to attempt some group pictures. This one makes me smile, as we tried to get all the great-grandchildren to smile with Grandmother and Papa Roy. I love this picture of my grandparents absolutely cracking up at trying to get them all to cooperate. It wore us all out, but it's still cute!
They did a little better the second time around with Grandad and Grankay. I have a feeling this picture is only going to get harder and harder as the years go by and the numbers increase. :)
The kids always find fun ways to entertain themselves when they're together. Lots of riding the gator in the backyard, building stuff out of rocks, and being silly together. This time, Kendyll somehow convinced Carlie & Braden to be her students with her new pretend "school teacher" kit.
Then, it was time to make some noise. Upstairs we all went for a guitar concert. Braden started us off with some good tunes, followed by his oldest "American Idol wannabe" cousin Kendyll. Carlie was whining for her turn, but of course, when she realized all the attention was on her, she stopped dead in her tracks, and did this...avoiding eye contact, and becoming shy is "her way" of dealing with attention. :)
After the "kid concert", Grandad finally played some tunes for us...John Denver, to be specific. Took us all back in time, as we all tried to remember the words to "Grandma's Feather Bed". (Ang, you should have been there!) The grandkids were quite impressed with Grandad's talent, and Kendyll has mentioned a few times since then that she thinks she needs to learn how to do that too!

It was a fun day with family...and we're looking forward to MANY more fun days this summer when my whole family is off school as teachers and/or students!

I agree that Dad needs to play the guitar more! It's always so impressive to me!

Also, I really REALLY want you to video Kendyll impersonating Simon and put it on here. I crack up every time I think of her saying, "You sound like a little boy whose parent's forced him to sing at a wedding!" (in her "Simon" British accent) I'm laughing right now. PLEASE share it with everyone else!!
