A Day at a Time...

That's the only way I can do this spring break blog. :) So, here it goes! I will offer a warning about the lengthiness and the overabundance of pictures....we actually have grandparents who WANT to read it all. The rest of you are welcome to "skim" the highlights!

This first blog will be DAYS ONE - THREE (Saturday, Sunday, Monday)...

SATURDAY: Our spring break started with an entire weekend of celebrations. First, Carlie had a poodle party to go to, where the birthday girl's mom made these amazing costumes for the kids to come in. SO CUTE! (and everything gets a ballet pose from Carlie, by the way...)

While that party was going on, our niece, Sophie Lynn was celebrating her SECOND birthday with a fairy party!! It was absolutely adorable, and the girls had so much fun dressing up, getting their face painted, going on a fairy hunt, and eating yummy cake.

As you can see, the birthday girl had a pretty good time too! This is right before she planted her face right in the icing...this girl knows how to eat cake!

That evening, we had the treat of going out to a fancy dinner to celebrate Grandma's birthday "in style". It has been set as an annual tradition to go to the same restaurant on March 15th...and this year's meal and family time did not disappoint!

We had a great time toasting to Grandma, toasting to a great year, and tasting some awful Easter-flavored Jones Soda. (it's a joke that is too long to explain...)

We need to offer a HUGE thank you to Grandad, Grankay, and Aunt Kylie for coming over to our house to entertain three little girls while we went out without them. I wish we had pictures of the fun they had, because we've heard many a story about the egg painting, easter treats, bouncy ball project, and all the other fun they had. SO, thank you to you three for giving us a night away, and giving the girls a night of so much fun. :)

SUNDAY: We got to have Uncle Chris here for church and lunch, and these girls were giddy. They love their "Uncle C", and Kendyll's already planning her trip to Boston to hang out with him. I love this picture...

After he left, we had another Grandma bday celebration, this time complete with LOTS of grandkids. :)

The rest of that day was spent packing, packing, packing. Camping sure requires ALOT of gear, food, clothing, and "stuff". I had a list 3 notebook pages long of things we needed to include. Mark was the official "car packer". Here is the final outcome:

MONDAY: Loaded up, and ready to head out of town! WOO HOO!! We've been waiting for this trip for so long, and it's finally here!! The girls were so excited, and I have to admit, so were their parents. For some reason, this trip was one of the most exciting ones to us!

The road trip went great, and all girls were highly entertained by music, movies, and each other. (And, it's a good thing because they were practically sitting on top of each other!)

We met our dear friends, the Posey's, in Gruene for dinner. SUCH a cute town! With some GREAT food too! We spent the whole evening playing outside with their sweet boys.

As you can tell, our five have fun together. :)

And, they also brought the MOST fun camping gifts for the girls, which were used ALL week to catch bugs and spy worms. Here are Kendyll and Jackson getting a better look at each other...

We had decided to "not plan" the first two days (at Mark's request, of course...seriously, when would I choose to "not plan" anything?!) So, that night we found a hotel room (after visiting a couple who were full, making this mommy-planner very nervous!), and set up shop for the night. This required a full unpacking of the car, just to find what we needed. But, we did it! And, the first day and night out of town were called a success in our book.
