A Happy Easter

Do any of you other bloggers ever feel completely overwhelmed at staying "caught up" on bloggable events? I'm feeling that way right now...lots that I want to remember and to update on, but not enough time to sit here and deal with Blogger!

We had an incredible week camping as a family, and I'm currently working on how to fit that in a blog. I also need to catch up on a weekend of celebrating Grandma's and Sophie's birthdays (with fun parties for each!). I even realized last week that I still haven't blogged about The Great Wolf Lodge weekend from February....whew.

But, for now, let me just stick to yesterday. :)

Easter was a fun day of seeing my cuties dressed up, being with family, and of course, hunting eggs on a Texas cold day. We didn't get back in town until Saturday evening, so it was a bit crazy getting Easter baskets together, and we certainly didn't have time for dyeing eggs or any of the other Easter activities.
But, despite the piles of laundry and half empty suitcases, the usual "Trail of Peeps" was laid......the baskets were found, and some of the candy was eaten for breakfast...
The most exciting thing in their baskets (according to them) was their very own chocolate bunny. Who would have known that would get them so excited? Their plan is to enjoy nibbling different body parts each day. :) Mark's personal favorite from this year's baskets is the little wind-up chicken that lays bubble gum eggs when you wind it up. He says it looks likes it's pooping. I guess that is guy humor for you. I will tell you that the Easter Bunny did not think that AT ALL when she bought them. :)

Saturday night, we did spend some time reading and talking about the meaning of Easter, which was precious to us as parents....and obviously very necessary since Carlie did not have a CLUE that Easter was about much more than a big bunny. However, our devotional time obviously helped a little. Her song on Sunday in the car was "Jesus died on the cross, Jesus died on the cross, and then He was alive, and then He was alive, holy, holy, holy". Original words and lyrics by Carlie herself. :)

In our kindergarten class at church, we talked about the crucifixion in more detail, and I got emotional as I shared with them the good news of the resurrection. Seeing their tiny eyes looking back at me, as they tried to take all of this into their little hearts was so sweet.

We spent the Easter afternoon with Pops and Grandma for a yummy lunch and egg hunt. As you can see, the girls had a BLAST filling up their baskets ...and checking out the surprises inside.

We even tried for a family picture...it is like that unattainable goal that we can NOT reach--to get all three girls (and Mark) looking at the camera with no blinks, frowns, or tears. One of these days...but, this was not the year. :)
At least they did a good job with their grandparents...

And, the older two have the individual pose down too. (Abby Kate was not quite as willing to sit still in the freezing wind. :)
We hope you all had a wonderful Easter Sunday. Be looking for an enormous post on camping with the Jacobs. I know you all can't wait!

Beautiful girls! Beautiful dresses!

So glad ya'll are safely back from camping. Can't wait to read about your adventures as my children will probably never have a camping vaca. Something about no Starbucks or room service that steers me clear of that though!

I CANNOT wait to see pictures from the camping trip. I also can't wait to take a BIG family camping trip with you someday (no matter what Austin says...)! It was so good seeing you on Saturday. I wish it could have been longer!!
