Always the Princess

As the shirt says (thanks, Sara, for the sassy shirt!), little miss Abby Kate is definitely already the princess. And, since I haven't had a post just about her, I thought I would share way too many pictures of her playtime today.
Today, she is eight weeks old. And, boy, is she FUN. I don't know how birth order works, but I've always been fascinated with it. I mean, do we, as parents, create these "stereotypes" and therefore the children follow them? Or, do the "oldest", "middle", and "youngest" really act a certain way? My sisters and I spend hours talking about our different personalities, and I always wonder how much the order of our birth dictates what we are like.

I can honestly say that Abby Kate already personifies the "baby of the family" in our household. And, it's definitely because of the way we treat her. We've named her cry "the Diva cry" because it does not come very often, but when it comes, it is intense, as if she's saying "I'm the baby around here and I deserve your attention NOW!" She is so laid back and sweet, and tolerates way too many hugs and kisses from her sisters (and her parents!). But, she also has a somewhat "high-maintenance" side to her too, in a funny kind of way. She doesn't want to be in her carrier if it's not moving or if her straps are on. She prefers naps in her dark, quiet bed and will sleep for hours if she is given her space. She knows when mommy is holding her and when it's anyone else. :) When she has been left alone in a room and wants to be playing with people, she does a distinct "whine cry" to get us to come in. As soon as we do, she is all smiles. (see below).

This was right after I came back from getting the camera. She says "Mommy, you're back! And, aren't I cute?"
She smiles. She laughs. She has discovered her toys and mobile. (I wish you could hear the conversation she was having with her mobile in this picture below. And, I also wish you could see how fast those little legs were kicking too.)

She is absolutely beautiful and perfect and we are smitten by you, sweet Abby Kate. You are an absolute sweetheart and joy to our family. It's hard to remember 8 weeks ago when we didn't know your little face or your expressions or your Diva cry. You are my baby girl. How will I ever tell you "no" or yell at you like I do your older sisters? I'm sure I'll find a way....but for now, you ARE the princess. And, I think you might know it. :)

SUPER DUPER ADORABLE! She is a doll, Chels!

I know what you mean about the baby of the family. David and I were laughing just the other day about how we have blown off Carrigan's new habit of tossing her food on the floor. We tell her no and discourage it, but if that were AK, we would have been stressing out, seeking an immediate solution for that behavior.

I can't believe Abby Kate is already 8 weeks old! So fun.

I love the new pictures! I can't believe how much she has grown in the last couple of weeks...She's SO beautiful! How do you and Mark do it?? All the girls are so precious!

Also, being the 3rd and baby for a while, I understand her need for attention...I still feel that way a lot when the family is all together...like I need to be the center...hmmm...maybe I'm a bit of a diva myself (but we already knew that:)

Cute, cute, cute! I'm into the birth order thing as well. I'm only 1 of 2, but am pretty textbook oldest child. I think it's also interesting when you look at your spouse...for me...the oldest marrying the baby of the family. Funny dynamics! :)

Okay...if that is not JUST LIKE CARLIE...I don't know what could be closer! She is so beautiful! I wonder if she will turn blonde like Carlie or be a brunette like Kendyll with a face like Carlie's. Either way...she is super cute! (You know Cassie's birth order theory for the cutest babies!?!)

I can't wait to see yall this weekend! Love you!!

Hey... she is TOO cute! What a fun stage. I am also a huge birth order fan. Our girls fit the mold of birth order as well. Emiley is spoiled rotten and knows it and plays off of it! Lainey is different in her own, independant way... does not want to fit the mold and is proud of it. Abbey is so responsible and tends to everyone and everything. I love that God blesses us with such different children in personality and looks... Maybe Abby Kate will come out with red hair totally unlike the other two like our third Diva did! These are great times!

What a precious baby! I cannot wait to get my hands on her sometime soon:) The picture when you walked back in the room is my favorite. I just love to see those sweet faces light up when Mom walks in the room. Love to you all!

Sweet princess! I cannot believe how much she looks like Carlie! Three beautiful girls, but this one will NOT make me want to have another one no matter how cute she is (since Carlie was my inspiration to have a second). I will just be content looking at AK's sweet face!

She is so BEAUTIFUL! We have the exact same shirt - our's came with a little diaper cover that had a tulle skirt attached! I love that outfit! Babies are just the best - aren't they!? I'm glad to hear she is so laid back and happy!

OK, I feel I got jipped since that shirt didn't come with a cute tutu diaper cover but...oh well. I used to believe in the birth order thing until I had Hollyn. She is so NOT your typical oldest child. Could that be that she is being raised by two non-oldests? Maybe. Love the pics. I must get my hands on all three of those sweetnesses soon (even if AK doesn't want me to). Hollyn has been wimpering for some Kendyll time. She asked if Kendyll could come over and spend the night on the plane ride home from WDW. I had to say no to that since we were exhausted! Talk to you soon.

Thanks for the Baby Cakes fix. That smile is just hypnotizing. Keep those pictures coming. Oh, and I rejoice with you that she is sleeping so mommy can sleep, too. Ahhh, everything is better with rest. Miss you.
