Well, I usually do these updates on my baby blog, but I thought this would be a good way to reach all the family (and friends) at one time!
We had our last sonogram for our baby girl today and everything looks great. We have been visiting the perinatologist monthly to make sure this baby doesn't come early, and so far, she has cooperated very nicely with that request. :) As of today, we are officially out of the "danger zone" for preterm labor, and Abby Kate is measuring so well, that they don't want to see me again in the specialist's office!! So, it looks like we won't see her sweet face again until she makes her appearance in person!
Today was fun because we took both girls to see the sonogram. They loved getting to watch the baby on TV and even got their very own picture of her face (along with a pink sucker). It was sweet to watch them get excited about seeing her and hearing her heartbeat. Carlie sat speechless at first and then said "That's ABBY KATE!! I be the big sister!" Of course, Kendyll is never speechless, and had plenty to say...to the doctor, to me, to Daddy, to Carlie, to the nurse, to the baby.....lots of things to say. But, it is just such a blessing as a mommy to watch her experiencing this pregnancy/baby addition. She is so much more aware of everything than she obviously was with Carlie--and it's been fun to share it with her.
We also went upstairs to see the newborn babies again with them, and spent time imagining what it will be like to see Abby Kate through the same nursery window soon. Carlie talked about how the nurses would give her a bath, and how they would check her tummy to see if it was sick. (this is what she learned last time we visited the babies). Then, she saw the bassinets and said that she would roll the baby down the hall to mommy. It seems like she's really "getting it" and understanding what it will be like. The best thing was that a new mommy was looking at her baby through the glass, laying in her hospital bed, obviously wheeled up straight from labor and delivery. So, I used her as an example to show the girls what I will look like...which will hopefully help Carlie to not be worried as much when it's me in the bed. :)
So, all went well and the girls had a fun day. The baby is BIG and, while I am glad for that for many reasons, I am starting to worry that she is going to be TOO big! I am not quite 33 weeks, and her head is measuring at 36 1/2 weeks!! She also weighed in today at 5 pounds, 5 ounces! And, she still has "growing time" for five more weeks! Yikes!
But, my prayer all along was to have a big and strong baby. I guess God took me very literally on that one. :) We are thankful for little Abby Kate and for her great health. We would love prayers as we near the end of this pregnancy, that we will continue with a healthy pregnancy for the next few weeks and deliver our precious girl without any complications whatsoever. (And, if you want to, pray that she's not 10 pounds like her daddy was.... :)
