Back in Texas, Part II

Chelsea and her team made it safely to Gisenyi earlier today. She described the long 4 hour drive, through winding hills, as lush and absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, I don't have a blog from her today to upload or any pictures, there is not internet service where she is staying. She did spot an internet cafe nearby, so hopefully I will have another update with pictures to share soon. All the comments and posts on the blog and on Facebook have been so encouraging to her and the entire team, thanks so much for taking the time to do that. And of course, please keep praying for the rest of the trip to go well and stay safe.

We are missing Mommy like crazy back at home and can't wait for her to return! Chelsea and I really do appreciate all the help in caring for the girls while she has been gone. We are so blessed to have such a loving and supportive family and network of friends close by.

We have stayed busy since my last post and especially had a lot of fun on New Years Eve. The girls decided to have a "Narnia" movie watching night and stayed up all the way to midnight to ring in the new year. Abby Kate and Carlie both crashed at about 11:30 but Kendyll held strong and made it all the way. Everyone woke up at midnight and we toasted with mini-Martinelli ciders!
The girls have enjoyed lots of time to play of Grandma and Pops house. Here is "Knight A.K".
We wrote letters to our Compassion International Kids and then made binders for each of them with all the letter that we have received over the years.

And a major highlight was a playdate at the Harper's House. Thank you Harper's, they had such a great time! (and thanks for texting this picture as well)

Abby Kate went back to school this week and also got to spend the night at the Batchelor's house. Such a big girl now!
And Kendyll and Carlie have done homeschool with Mama Amy and Grandma. You both are saints, thank you!

The house stayed clean for the first week, I was kind of obsessed actually, even making my bed a few times! But the wheels have fallen off since Tuesday when I went back to work. We will rally this weekend and get it back in order! I do need to reload our supply of Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Crunch...we ran out today. The girls hair has definitely suffered the most....but it has at least been clean! All in all, we are surviving but we sure do need our Mommy and can't wait for her to be home!

You are a great Dad! I'm especially laughing about your comment on the girls' hair because that is what would suffer most around here if I was gone! I've so enjoyed following Chelsea's journey and having the opportunity to pray for her. Love you, friends! :)
