On Our Way!!!

I'm sitting in the Washington D.C. airport, with Jaron and Rebecca (aren't they cute?),
and we have about 5 minutes until we board for our flight to Ghana!!!(so this won't be my best writing ever. I feel very rushed. :)

My heart has the familiar feeling of pure anticipation. It's such a great feeling when you're finally done with all the packing and planning...and all the days of preparation that lead up to the trip are done.

And, now, I just sit and wait with nothing to worry about or plan for. I just can't WAIT to hug on the little ones I love so much. Oh my goodness, just typing that made my stomach turn flipflops. :) Jaron and Rebecca have been laughing at my giddiness already.

I am sad to not be able to blog as often as I did in July, because that was a great way for me to download on my day, and share with my family and friends what was happening. But, we are going to try to do quick updates on Facebook, and blog when we can.

Most importantly, I can't wait to share pictures of kids all over Ghana receiving over 650 pounds of these GREAT treats!!!

And, look at our cute helpers at the airport too. :)
Somehow we actually got NINE suitcases checked for the three of us. Mark and Taylor Tidmore are bringing even more tomorrow and Shannon Voss leaves on Saturday to complete our team.

For the last two weeks, every day I get multiple emails, phone calls, or packages on my porch with more supplies for these kids. This stash of supplies was from my sister, Cortni's, second grade class.
Once again, a group of children who have amazed me with their willingness to give and their readiness to get to know more about these sweet kids in Ghana. Cortni has told me so many stories of parents and children having big conversations about life across the world. I love that.

And, then there are these sweet kids:
Lauren and Camryn (and their mommy Alyssa) came to deliver a VAN full of goodies for us to take, and it was just precious to hear them talk about how the kids in Ghana would love the stuff they brought. Oh my, Lauren and Camryn, you have no idea! So, thank you to ALL of you who donated through Alyssa and Clint too!

And, the last surprise came yesterday (along with two boxes of candy from other friends!) from my friend Love....four boxes full of medical supplies!!!
AMAZING!!

Okay, they just made the final call so I have to cut it off now. We're on our way!!! Thank you for all the support and prayers!!! We love you all!

Blessings to you!! Praying for you and can't wait to hear all about it. I just finished Pam's book so knowing that you are going out on Lake Volta feels like you are going somewhere "famous"....does that sound weird? Anyway, so PROUD and THANKFUL that you are making this trip (say hello to Taylor for us! Make sure he keeps track of his wallet :) )

Love your example for us all to answer this call. It's for all of us, Bless you for shining your light SO BRIGHTLY, and encouraging others to do the same. My goodness, 650 pounds!! Whew, light it up Dallas!!!

So excited for you guys! I will be praying God's richest blessings on each of you serving and on the precious little ones you will be with. Like Jaime I just finished reading Pam Cope's book & was challenged & inspired by her stories. And I have just recently met Shannon Voss & didn't realize she was going on your trip! It's amazing how the Lord puts people in our paths for a purpose. I can't wait to hear all about the trip & hopefully get together with you soon! You bless & inspire me!
