Part Two...the Zoo!

Yes, I'm behind...again. Darn it! And, I have MANY other things to post about. But, my anal brain can NOT go out of order. So, we're backing up a bit and covering Part TWO of Spring Break!!

After our fun camping adventure (which, by the way, I must clarify a couple of things...First: Camping is fun BECAUSE of the kids. There are many things about camping that are not my favorite. But, it's worth it for the fun they have. For example, the packing for two days, and unpacking for two days would be one of those "not my favorite" things. Another clarification that might be needed. There ARE hot showers, running water, and even electricity at many campsites...however, Nicole, instead of fuzzy bath mats, there is cold, gross concrete. And, for this camping trip, there were some nice mouse droppings in the corners. YUCK!!!!) Okay, so I just wanted to clear some things up for all of you who commented and said that maybe you should try it. I still stand by my original statement that everyone should try it. But, I at least want to be realistic about what you might find in your shower stall as well as how long it will take you to wash and re-wash clothes when you return. :)

Anyway, after we returned home and unpacked, we spent the next couple of days doing "the Dallas stuff". We spent a whole morning at the Farmers' Market, buying fresh fruits and vegetables, and lots of spring flowers for our yard. The afternoon was spent planting and "sprucing up" the yard. (Only to have it turn cold again three days later. :) We also went on walks, visited the duck pond, played some tennis (the girls new favorite sport), and spent time outdoors.

Since my sister and dad were off for Spring Break, we also decided to head to the Fort Worth Zoo before Spring Break passed us by. I think everyone else had the same idea. :) But, it was fun and, overall, a very smooth trip with six kids in a crowded place!

We started with breakfast at the Ole South Pancake House.
Here's Grandad's sweet ride...and don't worry, sisters, he did not leave breakfast without his toothpick. It's there if you look closely. :)
Here's our six monkeys ready to see the real monkeys!
Carlie was determined to read this map, if it took all day! She had fun picking out where we were as we went through different exhibits. A girl after her mommy's heart. :)

Grandad and Braden checking things out...and riding the train.

Caleb thought the train was fun too!! Look at that cute smile!

We spent most of the morning at Texas Wild! and loved it!! We hadn't spent time there before, so we learned alot about our state and the animals here. This is my favorite Abby Kate picture, as she tries SO hard to find the prairie dogs. :) Look at that cute bottom!!
Here's Daddy and his girls on top of a gator!
The girls measure their wing span...
And, then Cortni jumps in there to give us all a good laugh. It's a family joke that won't really make you laugh at all. But, let's just say we have quite a few of these pictures from our childhood. And, we were being serious. :) And, we ended the day with a late lunch at Grandad's house and some tired girls! These were those "mouth-wide-open, drooling, head-bobbing" kind of car naps. That means your zoo trip was successful, right?

So Cute! We did the Ft. Worth Zoo and Ft. Worth for the weekend at the end of spring break. We stayed at the Marriot right behind the Ole South Pancake Place. It would have been fun to run into you :)
