June 6 - 8
A while ago, our family got the treat of going on a work-sponsored trip to the Hyatt Hill Country in San Antonio (except for Abby Kate, who stayed home with Grandma). We had never been, but have heard amazing things about this family-friendly hotel. And, all those people were right! It was an amazing place. We truly wish we had longer to spend there, to check out all the fun activities and swimming pools!
The entire weekend was spent eating and swimming, tubing and rafting, and having some very unique treats...like a late-night showing of Enchanted (supposed to be on the great lawn, but was in the ballroom due to technical difficulties :), poolside S'mores on a huge fire pit, and fun events like hair-braiding! This event was so fun, that Carlie fell asleep right in the middle of it!!
Here are more pictures of many of the above-mentioned activities. :)
I really got very few group pictures, but we spent most of our weekend with many of the people Mark works with, and their families. Here are a few of the girls, whom Kendyll and Carlie made very fast friends with! (And, Mark's boss is posing in this one too. )
It was a fun -- and mostly free -- weekend getaway!! And, I say "mostly free" because two things happened that added to what was supposed to be a COMPLETELY free weekend, on Mark's company.
1) I had to fly back to Dallas on Sunday so that I could be here for a VBS meeting!! That was the best option we had for still going and having fun, without loading the kids up at 4 a.m. for a drive back home. Instead, Mark was the brave daddy who drove them back for a five hour return trip! And, he was the one who had the idea of a Southwest flight so I could join the fun for the weekend. :)
2) We found out just last week that another costly addition was added to our free trip. A traffic ticket!! Yes, I got a letter in the mail, with a picture of my license plate attached...apparently, THEY say I ran a red light on my way out of town that day!! BUMMER!! There went a small chunk of change to the DPS too! (By the way, I of course blame Mark because I was driving quickly because he was LATE for his first dinner in San Antonio and had spent too much time talking on the phone before we left home! But, I guess, running a red light wasn't the best solution to the problem. :)
Anyway, besides a couple of additional costs, it was a fun family time...we will definitely be returning to the Hyatt Hill Country someday. And, I encourage anyone with kids to do it too!!

The resort (& the beach) looks very cool! It's been over 10 years sinced I've been there, so I don't remember that many details. I guess I just need to go back...I'll see if I can work that out!
I'm sorry that you got a traffic ticket. Darn those sneaky cameras! We have one right by our house and I have squealed to a stop at the last minute several times to avoid being caught by that camera. :-)
I will have to show my girls your pictures. My dad is taking our girls there next week while Will and I enjoy some time in Huntington Beach, CA. They are really excited but will be even more excited when they see some pictures of the place!!
That place looks awesome! I am going to check that out. How nice that Mark's company offers something like that. Our company does not include the family in any of the get togethers. Kinda sad.
