Happy February!

Not that I don't like January...but I do find that I'm a little more dreary during that month. So, we're glad it's February 1st around here.

There are a few surprises in our house these days...

1) First, and most importantly, Kendyll lost her FIRST tooth today! It literally fell out in her mouth and we all screamed from excitement. I'll post a picture later, but to say she was excited would not quite capture her emotion. :) She has told everyone we have seen today her big news(many people who we didn't know!). Such a big "rite of passage", even though she's later than many of her friends....she just looks so BIG with that hole in front.

2) Second, we found out that we will get to be aunt and uncle to another precious baby next TUESDAY! Cortni will have baby Avery in her arms in just about 4 days. And, we can't wait to kiss those chubby cheeks! (The sonographer already commented on Avery's chub...so we know for a fact that those cheeks will be quite kissable. :) Have I said before that I LOVE LOVE LOVE being an aunt?!

3) I got a wonderful surprise this morning from Kendyll. As you know, she is a celebrater of all holidays, and could not WAIT for it to be February 1st. It's officially "Happy February" at our house, because of Valentine's Day, Kendyll's 6th Birthday, and Abby Kate's 1st Birthday. So, I was given a wonderful breakfast spread made by Kendyll herself. Peanut butter toast, ice water, and a waffle. Plus, my Valentine's Day card that she picked out three weeks ago. She was so excited to bring me to the dining room to see my surprise all laid out. :) I love that girl and her excitement.

4) Of course, today was also supposed to be the day to surprise Kendyll and Carlie with their Valentine's news. And, this is what is was supposed to be....

(Those are actual pictures we took from our vacation to NYC in 2005!)

We had planned a surprise trip to New York City with the two girls over Valentine's weekend, only because Mark was going to be in neighboring New Jersey for two weeks already. We were going to meet him there for the weekend in between for some family time while he was traveling for work.....

But, the good news is that he gets to come home early now! The bad news is that there is no longer a NYC trip to plan. We decided there wasn't a real need to pay outlandish prices for hotels, food, and fun over Valentine's weekend, especially since the girls would be FREEZING the entire time. So, we're going to delay that surprise until Carlie is older and the weather is nicer. :)

I was a bit bummed, because I thought NYC for Valentine's sounded great! But, we're still excited because, instead of The Big Apple, we're going to The Big Wolf Lodge! (And, by the way if you live in the metroplex and haven't heard about this place, it looks AWESOME!!)

Pops and Grandma gave this to our family for Christmas, and we've been trying to decide the perfect time to use it. So, next weekend, we're driving DOWN THE ROAD to this awesome hotel and entertainment park to spend some fun time as a family! We're so excited to surprise the girls....they won't know what we're doing until we show up. That should make for some fun video footage! Of course, Abby Kate is going to sit this one out, since everything is designed for older kiddos. But, she will have a vacation of her own at Grandma's house. :)

So, the surprise has changed, but we're still thrilled to go on a family trip together--to "get away" even in our own city---and just relax during what has become one of our "busiest seasons of life". Mark is almost done with this traveling schedule he is on, and the girls' birthdays are coming very soon. So, there is lots to celebrate in February!

Happy February to all of you too!

Is that the same as Great Wolf Lodge (hotel, indoor water park, etc)? I have been wanting to go there. Let me know how you like it!!

That will be so much fun! I can't wait to hear about Valentine's weekend and see if the "fishy" swimsuits fit the girls. I didn't hear back from you today, I hope all is well with Cortni and Avery!

I'm so glad Kendyll is doing better. I had no idea that she couldn't hear! Those tubes are amazing, aren't they? Sounds like she had a fun time with Mom afterwards too!

Too bad about NY, but now you can save that money to come to London!! We miss you soooooo much!

Congratulations, Kendyll, on losing your first tooth!! Trinity still hasn't lost one yet, but her two bottom teeth sure are wiggly! We are so sad that we will miss your birthday this year. :( Trinity tells me every day how much she misses you and her Texas friends. She was really excited though to turn her calendar page and see a big picture of you!! We love you and miss you so much!!
