Quick story....
Today, Kendyll was playing "polly pockets" online. To her, the most enjoyable part of this website is dressing the girls with different hats, clothes, colors, etc. So, I was sitting with her and helping her "dress" a few. This is how the conversation went:
Me: Kendyll, you are really creative! You think of such great clothes for these girls!
Kendyll: I know, I make really cute outfits, huh?
Me: You do! Maybe you'll be a fashion designer someday, do you think that would be fun? (we always talk about jobs for her to do someday....)
Kendyll: Yes! That's exactly what I want to do! (Then, with a puzzled look...) But, I think I already have way too many jobs.
Me: Well, you don't have to do everything! When you're older, you'll be able to decide what you want to do the most. But, you have so many talents, you can do alot of different things!
Kendyll: I know! I'll work at a store where they have clothes and you can come shop there and I will help you pick out outfits!
Me: That's a great idea! What store?
Kendyll: I will be at Walmart, number 7. That way you can always find me when you're ready to pay for your clothes. And, you'll say "Well, hi, Kendyll! You're on #7 again!" (this means Checkout Aisle #7, for those non-Walmart shoppers out there....)
Me: After total laughter that I could not stifle, I finally said, "That sounds perfect. I will always come to aisle #7 and tell you hi."
Ummm....maybe I need to start shopping at other places so my daughter knows there is a bigger world of fashion out there than Wal-Mart. :)

What a sweet girl Kendyll is! I can't wait to have conversations like that with Sarah someday. I read through some of your previous posts and just wanted to let you know that I love the name Abby Kate for your new little one! I also love reading all your stories about motherhood. You are such a wonderful mother and I'm so encouraged by reading your blog. Thanks for sharing with all of us!
Love,
Ann Williams
That's hilarious! I laughed out loud!
That's funny! I had a friend who when she would take a shower, her son would ask if they were going to church. She would always be so frustrated with him and remind him that she doesn't only take a shower on church days! Kids are funny!
That's too funny! I wonder why she picked number 7...
What would we do without WalMart??
That is so funny!! Everytime I get out a "decent" shirt for Ridgedon to wear....you know, something other than a t-shirt...he says "but Mom, its not church day". Maybe I should care a little more often what he puts on his body! Have ya'll ever gone to www.starfall.com? Ridge likes that website alot. They do that in his kindgergarten class and when he comes home he likes to do that for his "homework". Love it!!
The world of Wal-Mart does meet a lot of needs, yeah? Glad your daughter has a good humble grounding to begin with. :) Sounds to me like you're teaching her right! - Sarah B
That's hysterical! I need to try that Polly Pocket website on my own fashion queen.
Amy---we LOVE starfall.com! That is probably her #1 favorite. And, I love how much she learns from it! I'm kind of sad that she discovered barbie.com (where polly pockets is) because it's not NEARLY as educational....except in fashion, I guess. :) Ha ha.
That is one of the sweetest & funniest stories -- one that is great to have recorded in a blog so that when she is a teenager you can tell her that she dreamed of working at Walmart!
Cute Kendyll...I miss seeing that girl a few times a week!
So funny! I can't believe that she even realized that the checkout aisles were numbered! Very observant little girl. I'm surprised she didn't say Target or Jo-Ann...aren't those stores a staple on your To Do list?
Whenever anyone asks Emma where she got something...clothes, toys, etc...she tells them "the dollar store". I always rush to correct her that we do not buy our clothes at the dollar store, but, we ARE there a lot! Who knows, she may want to work there.
Walmart checker?! That is funny. Somehow I don't think that she will want to do that when she finishes college. Just a hunch;)
I have been converting my blog to Shutterfly. They have those photo books with journaling options so I am making one. You upload your pictures then you make the book. I copy and paste the text of my blog. You can change the fonts and the sizes. You can watch for a sale to make it cheaper. I will post a picture of the finished product when it is done. I am doing one for each year. I never could keep up with scrapbooking but I can blog so now I will have my scrapbook every year!!I have finished converting through April so far. Maybe more info than you wanted but if you can't tell, I am excited about it.
That is a really cute and funny story.
I have been thinking about you. I hope you are feeling okay.
That's pretty funny. Whenever we get in the car to go somewhere, Trinity always asks if we're going to Wal-Mart. Maybe we'll see Kendyll there!
When my 20-something year old cousin was a little girl, people would ask where she got those big brown eyes. She would always say "Wal-Mart". Funny.
We haven't found barbie.com yet. I'll show it to Trin. She'll love it.
are you in labor?? where are you!!
