School Days

There is something so exciting to me about the first day of school....even if my kids are only 2 and 4! It is just a new beginning each year that is so much fun to experience through their eyes. And, it was a great one again yesterday.
(Pops and Grandma were here to play before school!)

Carlie was so excited about being a big school girl this year, and walked right into her classroom and started playing away. Then, she had to go see Kendyll's room...and Mommy's room....and the bathroom. We were very lucky to have Grandma along for the first day, to help capture the pictures that Mommy wouldn't get to see (since I had my own class of 9 excited three year olds to take care of!) Grandma did a great job of taking both girls to class and getting some cute pictures of them too.

(Carlie and her teacher, Mrs. Nicole)

Carlie had a great first day, and apparently had a great time playing at recess and PE, as well as learning Spanish, and making her "bubbles" in the hallway. (something they do with their mouths to keep them quiet!) She wasn't too sure about seeing me in chapel but not sitting with me, but Mrs. Nicole was so sweet to help her through it. And, I loved getting to see my big girl sitting with her new little class! Oh, she's so CUTE!! She did great at naptime too, which I was completely shocked at. Mrs. Nicole said she did do the head-bob thing, popping up quite a few times to see what was going on around the room. But, after that got old, she actually got close to falling asleep! (Mommy was mean and told her teacher not to let her go to sleep so I could have naptime when we got home!) We were thrilled to hear that she had a great day and I can't even describe how cute it was to see her toddling down the hallways. :)

Kendyll, of course, thinks she rules the school in the big 4 year old class. She has not stopped talking since she got home yesterday, and probably drove poor Mrs. Kristen crazy with her "excitement" about school. I couldn't help but laugh when we got her report from Mrs. Kristen yesterday about her "energy" and "enthusiasm" for learning. I've had the pleasure of reading many of Mark's school reports from his early years, and I think those two words, along with "social", "friendly", "loud", and a few others, were used on every single one. She is her father's daughter....and it is SO funny to watch. So, Mrs. Kristen, just know now that we are completely fine with hearing "she talks too much", "she's too loud", and "she's starting to drive me crazy with her excitement level". We will understand!

Despite her excessive energy, she learned alot on her first day! She loves telling me new things that she learns, and her favorite thing was that she made her very own graph of how many letters were in each of her classmates' names. I had no idea you could talk about such a thing for hours and hours. But, she has. She had a great time, and I just know she will have a great year too.

Mommy came home exhausted from my little bunch of three year olds (and from my little baby inside too). I know we will get the routine down, and then will have much easier days. The first day is always a good reminder of how much kiddos learn in their 3 year old year. They are all so sweet, and I can already tell I got a great group. Now, if we can just remember how to make it to the bathroom before an accident, flush, wash hands, open backpacks, walk in the hall, and clean up toys, we'll be in great shape!

Overall, it was a great first day. And, the best part about it...we have today and tomorrow to rest before we're back again! :)

Can't wait to see that pics! (I hate that too!)
I am so glad the school year started out so well...it is such an exciting time to see our little ones actually be excited about school. (hope it always stays that way!)

1) I love those outfits and they are PRECIOUS in them.
2) I don't think I have seen a better picture of Carlie than the one with John and Cheri (as far as group pictures are concerned)
3) I can't believe that the girls are so big. Kendyll (like I have said many times) is like a little adult and Carlie is like a little girl (not baby anymore)
4) Have fun in New York! Take way too many pictures:) (I should have given you my camera to take with you...what was I thinking?)

Thanks for posting the pics of your cute girls. Even though I was there, I really didn't get to see how adorable they both looked!!

I'm glad that you have a great class, too!

We had a great day and I loved that Carlie smiled the entire naptime like she had a secret or something. Everytime I looked at her she was smiling!

I enjoyed my first day of school so much -- that little class of mine has some funny, sweet, excited, talkative, and eager learners! Kendyll's enthusiasm and energy for school (and everything) is contagious even to her teacher. She will be a bright spot each Mon & Thurs for me!
