Swimming Update

Thank you all for your comments and encouragement on Kendyll's swimming dilemma. ;) They have really helped alot! Just thought I'd update everyone and let you know that we had a MUCH better day today. Carlie and I joined Kendyll for her lesson, and that made a world of difference. Although she still had her moments of crying, and didn't want to do a couple of things, she still tried really hard to do everything that Mrs. Linda told her to. (The deal we made before we got there is that Carlie and I would swim with her as long as she had a happy face. That helped alot.)

Tonight at dinner, Kendyll prayed and thanked God for swimming lessons. She asked God to help her go under the water without being scared at all and to trust Mrs. Linda. Then tonight at bedtime, she prayed that God would be "all around her" when she was not very sure about the water tomorrow. This is coming from a girl who would scream at me last summer if I ever mentioned swim lessons in a prayer. Her sweetness today melted my heart.

The funny thing about swimtime today was that Carlie was begging to go back under the water everytime we came up for air. And, she loved "diving" for the rings too. That girl is so funny...especially when her sister isn't so sure about this whole swimming thing.

But, thanks again for the mommy wisdom everyone! Hopefully each day will be better, with less tears, and more comfort and confidence for Kendyll.

Bribe her with a snow cone--that's what I did, and it worked like a charm. Then...he didn't want a sno cone the next day, it had to be something else. There's some great mommy wisdom for you.

What a sweet girl, Chelsea. I can't get over her sweet heart and how she prays about the things she is struggling with. Ya'll must have set an amazing example for her.

I love hearing Kendyll's sweet prayers!

I'm so glad that she is much happier with you and Carlie in the water. I know that the next few days will only get better!

Yea Kendyll!!!! Before you know it she'll be swimming better than Trinity! She is such a sweetheart. Her prayers are so special! I have a hard time keeping Trinity on track and not too silly when we pray! I guess seriousness will come some day. I'll pray for that!

So good talking to you yesterday! I have to admit, I was Kendyll. Most kids may be great with it, but sadly enough Jason and I are both proof that sometimes you just don't snap out of it and you NEVER love it. I love going to the pool now, but I still HATE swimming. Mom made us take lessons with my grandma White 2 wks every summer. HATED it! I'd fake stomach aches, cry...BUT at least I know how to swim now so I'm thankful for the safety part, but that's it. Then there were Jenna and Jared who became
'Sharks' & I remained the wimpy little 'tadpole.' Ha! :) Good luck & you're such a great mom to do that with her! I bet that does make a world of difference if she's scared!
