Well, this might be whiney...Okay, it WILL be whiney. I haven't blogged in a while, partly from being too busy, and partly from being too sick! Something has "gotten to me" and won't let go. It's some kind of sinus infection/allergy attack/laryngitis kind of a thing that includes stuffy nose, sore throat, hacking cough, headache, and NO VOICE (the part I hate the most). It started last Thursday and, although I went to school today, I probably could have used another day in bed!
The saddest thing to me is that I had to miss out on so many fun things this weekend. Not only have I not been able to call back any of my friends (you know who you are....I'm not avoiding y'all, I just can't TALK), but our family also missed some great times with friends this weekend. We didn't get to go to the Mayo's ranch for a fun family day outdoors, and Mark and I had to miss out on a date night on Saturday for a good friend's surprise 30th birthday party. Sorry, Tiff, that we missed your big night! And, then, we missed Sunday at church too, which is always sad to me. I love getting to see so many of our best friends there, and this Sunday was the baby blessing, one of my favorite Sundays of the year, when you get to see the precious babies who have joined our family.
So, as you can tell, we spent alot of time at home instead---which wasn't all bad, really. Even though we didn't get to do alot that we had planned on, I should probably blog about what we DID get to do instead, huh?!
We DID get to hang out in our PJ's most of the weekend and got to pretty much eat "take out" breakfast, lunch, and dinner since I claimed sickness for an excuse not to cook.
The girls DID get to have very quality Daddy time the whole weekend. They took walks, played at the park, went to McDonald's, watched movies, and played for hours in their rooms together.
I DID get to finish all of my VBS curriculum which would not have happened without a whole lot of quiet time in my bed.
I DID organize my entire closet and put up winter clothes for all four of us, which needed to happen a few weeks ago!
I DID get to have two nights in bed before 8:00 with my hubby for uninterrupted movie watching, TIVO catch up, and reading time...that alone is worth the sickness!
I DID get all of my Sunshine School end-of-year work done. Another project easily done from the couch.
I DID have three naps in the middle of the day. That never happens!
So, see! There were some good things about a sick weekend at home. :) We really did get so much done around here, and the girls enjoyed a weekend with nowhere to go, and nothing to do but play and play and play.
Now, we're hoping for a healthier week and some good time with friends! May is here and I am so happy about that. School comes to a close, and the heat of summer begins with fun times at the pool, and more free time than we know what to do with.
Before that happens, though, we have so many important things coming up in the next few weeks that I'm excited about.... including a visit from Mark's brother and his ELEVEN band-mates next weekend (yes, they're all staying at our house), welcoming Mark's parents into their new house here next week, Kendyll's big ballet recital, birthday parties, Mother's Day, a trip to Abilene, a trip to Birmingham, Alabama, and finally....a vacation to San Diego with my husband!!! Woo hoo! May will be busy, but good for sure!
Side note: I know I said my next blog would be about Carlie, and that one really is coming...maybe tonight. Or, maybe tomorrow....

Eleven house guests??? You are one good wife/sister-in-law. Hope you feel better soon!
I pray that you are on the mend. Your sickness could'nt have anything to do with the fact that you "do too much"? You have to remember to slow down before you are run down.
I am with Holly on the eleven guests. It should make for an interesting weekend and blog next Monday.
We miss you all!! Love ya!
Get better soon! It is bad news when mommy is sick!
Yes, I am planning to "use" this eleven house guest thing as much as I can. Really, it shouldn't be too bad, since they're young traveling band dudes who don't expect much except a floor to sleep on. :) But, still, eleven people even on my floor will be interesting to say the least!
Chris is hard enough to handle for a weekend...but 11 Chris's...I don't know about that:)
