One more highlight...

Oops! Forgot my most favorite highlight (goes with post below--wow! I've made two posts in a day!). Anyway, after seven years of real trees with my sweet husband and many more years of real trees with each of our own families growing up, Mark finally said the words I've been wanting to hear for three years now.

"I'm done. No more of this."

Now, this was said while we were "readjusting" our tree last night for the fifth time, to try and get it straight. As we did this, needles fell everywhere, and even though they smelled good as they fell, it made us both cringe, because our entire living room is covered in these sticky, poky pieces (which Carlie loves to find). I wasn't sure I was really hearing him right. So, I said, "You're done? Done with what?"

"I'm done with this tree thing. You win. I want a fake one."

WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!! After I stopped dancing the victory dance, I told him that this was a bloggable moment and he started dying laughing (probably more about my dancing than my statement). The reason it's so "bloggable" is so that NEXT YEAR when he changes his mind back to the real tree, I can find my post and prove to him that he gave me his word.

So, that's it. We're done with the real tree thing. I think we were both convinced after a very cold night out with the girls trying to find a tree, plus getting it into our house, putting all those hundreds of lights on, and now cleaning up after it (which will continue for the next six months). I might be offending other "real tree lovers" (which I have been for many years), but it's too tempting to have a "fold it up and put it away" kind of a tree for next year.

After Christmas sales, here I come!! For a pre-lit artificial one, baby!

You might want to shop before Christmas. The artificial trees go on sale beforehand and if you wait till after there may not be much to choose from. Also I highly recommend the pre-lit tree. Even less hassle...glad you have moved to the other side. Happy Holidays!!

We are definitely an artificial tree family.

I only had a real tree one time when I was like 2 years old and it made me so stuffy and sick, my parents gave up and bought a fake one. This was a hard thing for Kevin to give up though when we got married...he had always had real ones. Now his parents have a fake one (because of me & my nephew) and they say they will never go back to real! They love the artificial!

So glad you are joining our team!

We LOVE our pre-lit tree!

I like hearing all your stories about Kendyll and Carlie. They are always amusing!

Welcome to climberville! Riley is such a climber that he has a bump on his head every week from falling.

Dude, the last real tree I had was the one in our apartment that we threw out the window onto Spring Valley in the middle of the night to keep ourselves from having to carry it down 3 floors! I love my pre-lit artificial...i am glad that your Holiday life is about to get easier!!! :)

I'm with you, artificial trees are great! But- I do like to get at least a little tiny tree (meaning under $10) just for the smell. So many people are allergic to real trees anyway. So I guess you and Mark are just being considerate of others.

yep, the pre-lit artifical tree is the way to -- my family is allergic, so we've had artificial for as long as I can remember.....and there are soooo many options now!!

Enjoy the shopping!!
