Well, I'm back already...to finish my first day of blogging before Mark and I enjoy "movie night" at home. (By the way, this is one of my favorite things to do on a weekend night....or any night, for that matter!) Of course, tonight the movies of choice at Blockbuster were not my favorites, but we'll see how it goes....
The Weekend Blockbuster Trip has now become a daddy & daughter tradition, which is just the cutest thing. Movie watching has always been their favorite thing to do together, so it shouldn't be any surprise, really, that they've started this together. Today, when Kendyll woke up from her nap, and Mark got finished with his work for the day, the three of them (Carlie is only allowed SOME of the time) headed out to get the weekend's rentals. Now, I have to give credit to Pam B. for this relatively new habit in our family. She got us hooked on renting movies after her kids would bring a new one every time they visited us! And, of course, if Mark is going to start something, it's not going to be in a small way. He has now become one of the "frequent flyer" members of Blockbuster, so we can get in on all the latest deals (and ads) that they have. We get all these free "non-new release" movies, so Kendyll gets her choice of any of the old classics for free...tonight the choice was American Tail. (Cortni & Cassie, does it make you want to go to a "wowwy"?) All the movies we end up with either remind me of my childhood or my sisters' childhoods, so it's pretty fun for Mark and me too to go back in time. Except for the new addiction of Barbie movies that she has become hooked on too (I give that credit to Alisa P...) For those of you who haven't been so lucky to get to watch these, they have great lessons and morals, but REALLY annoying music.
So, as you can tell, I am only able to blog right now, in the middle of a Friday evening, because Mark and Kendyll are completely distracted by their daddy/daughter movie time. This involves microwave popcorn with extra "orange stuff" (aka popcorn salt), an ACU sweatshirt blanket, two big pillows, and "toes touching" on the couch, with a remote control handy to fast-forward any "not nice" or "scary" parts...which happen way too much for kid-rated Disney movies--but that's a whole other soapbox for me!!
Wow....I am way too good at rambling with this blogging thing. That's not even what I meant for my first post to be about! And, look! I just spent WAY too long talking about that! So, I guess I better change the title to this post from what it was originally planned to be, and go with what started coming out as I typed! Wow...this is way too much fun! :)
We hope everyone has a great weekend!

Funny you mentioned American Tale because last week at school I made my kids watch it for "Movie Friday"...and I just laughed and sang the whole time. It took me back to a great time...
